Best Criminal Lawyers in Chandigarh Journalist Thukral passes away by Advocate SS Sidhu Lawyer in Chandigarh High Court
Chandigarh, September 29
Eminent journalist Gobind Thukral today passed away after a prolonged illness at Panchkula. He was 79. Thukral is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter. He was suffering from cancer. Thukral, whose journalistic career spanned over more than three decades, retired as Chief of Bureau with The Tribune around two decades ago.
Indian Journalists Union’s Amar Nath, Chandigarh Press Club and Punjab and Chandigarh Union of Journalists mourned the death. The cremation will be held at Sector 25, Chandigarh, at 4pm on Monday.
Chief Minister, Mohindra offer condolences
Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Local Bodies Minister Brahm Mohindra and Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar expressed grief over the death of Thukral. Describing him as one of north India’s leading journalists, Captain Amarinder said he had contributed immensely to both English and vernacular media, particularly during the dark days of militancy, on which he reported fearlessly. —TNS
