Moga, September 30

A 17-year-old youth allegedly died of overdose of drugs at Sadda Singh Wala village in Moga district on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Gurpreet Singh. His body was found in the village drain, police officers said.

A police team sent the body for autopsy at the district hospital. The doctors also took viscera samples and sent them for chemical examination in a government lab. The autopsy report is awaited.

Deceased’s father Mangal Singh said his son was an addict and used to consume “chitta”. He claimed, “My son has died of overdose of ‘chitta’ and this drug was provided to him by a village youth.”

Revealing the name of the drug supplier to the police,he said earlier too, a youth of the village had died of overdose. “The police must arrest the supplier,” he demanded. —TNS
