Sangrur, September 29
After a meeting at its Sangrur office here, members of Zameen Prapati Sangharash Committee (ZPSC) announced that they would gherao Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s Patiala residence on September 30 for their long-pending demands.
They also alleged that police personnel were conducting raids at the houses of their members in various cities to thwart their protest.
“Cops have been conducting raids at my residence in Malaud, at our Sangrur office in Prem Basti and in other districts to arrest our members to foil the September 30 gherao of CM’s house. But we have made all required arrangements and will go ahead with our protest,” said Mukesh Malaud, president of the ZPSC.
Their main demands include allotment of reserved land from village common land on lease to Dalits for 33 years and allotment of plots from village common land to Dalits.
“Politicians remember Dalits only during elections but we will intensify our agitation in the coming days to remind them the importance of Dalits,” Malaud added.
