Abohar: The city police in Fazilka have registered a case under Sections 420, 465, 466, 468, 471 and 120-B of the IPC and 7,8 and 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and 7 of the Essential Commodities Act against 11 persons. Satnam Singh of Dhani Kadaka Singh in Abohar had on July 15 alleged in a complaint that some persons connived to prepare fake cards under the Atta-Dal scheme of the state government. The norms laid down in the scheme were not followed and the beneficiaries were issued ration using such cards fraudulently, he alleged. OC
16-year-old girl kidnapped, raped, youth booked
Moga: A 16-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by a youth at a village of Dharamkot sub-division in Moga district, police officials said on Wednesday. Preliminary investigation revealed that the girl was going to her school in the morning when a youth kidnapped her. He took her to an undisclosed location and raped her. A medical examination confirmed rape. The police have registered a case under Sections 363, 366, 376 of the IPC and Section 3 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. TNS
Apples with slogans, terrorist’s name surface at Lehra
Sangrur: After a shopkeeper of Lehra found a slogan and the name of a terrorist written on apples purchased from Kashmir, the Sangrur police have started investigations. "Indian go back and the name of terrorist Burhan Wani was written on some apples. After I opened the box, I informed the police," said Makhan Singh. Sangrur SP Harinder Singh said they were investigating the matter. TNS
