Situation turned tense at Khawaspur village, 20 km from here, today when the civil administration and police tried to vacate land in the possession of 120 Dalit families.

After women members of the families threatened to set themselves on fire in case the administration tried to evict them, the police returned from the spot. The police force was led by Duty Magistrate Abhishek Verma.

Ravinderpal Singh, DSP Goindwal Sahib, said the Duty Magistrate had requisitioned the police which was provided as per the norms.
